Connectivity is a world full of acronyms causing confusion, however the main options are briefly explained here. We work with suppliers such as Openreach, Virgin, KCom, Nine Wholesale and Gamma to ensure a breadth of options optimised to the specific voice and/or data needs of our clients.
For businesses requiring a reliable broadband solution, a fibre leased line offers lightning-fast broadband with full-fibre connectivity, ensuring a dedicated connection directly to your premises. Unlike other broadband packages, this business broadband option provides symmetrical upload and download speeds, ranging from 10MB to 1GB, tailored to your needs.
Leased lines deliver enterprise-grade performance, low latency, and business full-fibre broadband for seamless voice and data transmission using fibre optic cables and a fibre network. Although prices are higher than typical business broadband deals, fibre broadband for business ensures reliable connection backed by service level agreements for mission-critical applications.
Juno, as an independent telecoms solution provider, will assess Leased Lines from numerous network providers to offer businesses like yours the appropriate symmetrical upload and download speeds of between 10MB and 1GB, to ensure there is no wastage and that you pay only for your required bandwidth. Upgrading as and when additional capacity is needed is a relatively simple process.
Prices for leased lines will seem considerably higher than other business connectivity options, however businesses pay a premium monthly rate for a fully-managed service, delivering enterprise-grade, low-latency connection backed-up by service level agreements (SLAs). Various back-up options are also offered, depending on the reliability requirements. As it’s a dedicated line into your building, planning permission and construction timings can push delivery to between 45-90 days, the fibre optic solution is ideal for businesses requiring a robust internet connection with backup options and future scalability.
EFM is an affordable means of achieving guaranteed symmetrical speeds using broadband while providing an Ethernet handover interface. The service is delivered via multiple copper telephone lines, usually bundled, to deliver a single symmetric service.
The on-site router handles the bonding and line failures to ensure up time. Typically lower-cost than a leased line, and generally installed in 25-30 days, it can be delivered in upload/download speeds of between 2MB and 20MB.
FTTC is delivered over an analogue line to the building but takes advantage of high-speed fibre connections to a cabinet close to your premises. This removes all the loss characteristics of long copper lines back to the exchange, enabling download speeds of up to 80MB. This product is available in an ever-increasing number of locations across the country, but will require us to do a check on your postcode to ascertain current availability.
It would be very costly to get everyone connected directly to Fibre Broadband. FTTC therefore provides a cost effective way of providing many businesses with the speed and stability benefits of Fibre Broadband.
FTTC comes in various options particualry upload and download speeds, with a converged business option being the favoured one for combined VOIP and IT installations.
FTTC services can usually be available in 10 days and while more expensive that traditional ADSL, it offers significant savings over a leased line.
ADSL is an entry-level broadband service delivered on an analogue line, which provides download speeds of between 2MB and 24MB, although this is very much dependant on the distance to the exchange. Upload speeds are typically below 1MB.
This solution is ideal for small or satellite offices, but we would always recommend that a converged voice variant is used to guarantee voice channels for VOIP.
ADSL is also used as a suitable back-up service for fibre leased lines.
Usually, it is the lowest-priced of all current internet connectivity options, and will typically be delivered within 10 days.
Analogue telephone lines, historically, are copper wires run from the telephone exchange to your business premises. They are used as single line phone lines, and for Fax/PDQ or modem services, as well as being the transport mechanism for ADSL or FTTC broadband services.
ISDN is a business-only digital line (delivered in multiples of two lines or in a 30-line option), which interconnects a traditional phone system (PBX) to the phone network, proving clarity and quality of calls. While it’s very resilient, it has some limitations in terms of portability and flexibility, while BT is aiming to replace all ISDN with IP connectivity by 2015.
WLA – via microwave leased lines or satellite broadband – provides options for rural locations, industrial estates and other areas which are not so well served by copper or new fibre broadband. This is a rapidly-evolving area, offering great potential for innovative connectivity solutions, customised to the specific challenges of a business’ buildings or location.

SIP Trunking combines voice and data traffic over a single network connection, unlike traditional methods which deliver them separately.
It can deliver immediate and substantial cost savings.
Juno uses SIP Trunking as its recommended replacement for ISDN, as it provides a more flexible and lower cost alternative to ISDN for inbound and outbound voice calls.
SIP Trunking is cheaper on a per channel basis. Set-up costs can be lower than ISDN, it is more flexible in terms of what telephone numbers you can have and where you can have them, and is quicker to install and can offer a robust business continuity service.
Our SIP Trunk solutions are ISO27001-approved, come with in-built fraud mitigation and disaster recovery services and delivers voice, data and business critical applications with 24/7 fault management. It’s compatible with all our UC solutions, as well as Skype for business.SIP Trunks are a standards-based replacement for traditional ISDN. They connect your PBX to the PSTN over broadband or Ethernet connections. SIP Trunks work seamlessly with most of the leading IP PBX systems available in the UK.
SIP trunking is less costly per channel than ISDN and provides flexibility options in use of geographic numbers. It’s easily scalable and provides extremely robust options for business continuity and disaster recovery.
