Local or National telephone numbers (01,02)

When an order for a new telephone line is placed you are usually given a local geographic number. (This is not always the case with newer VOIP systems.) This number is normally associated with your postcode.  Examples would be if you are in the Nottingham telephone area then your telephone number would begin 0115, the national destination code for Nottingham. Derby would be 01332, Mansfield 01623, Chesterfield 01246, York 01904, Sheffield 0114, Harrogate 01423 and so on.

Many businesses nowadays find it useful to have a number from an area other than the one they are based in. A company based in Leeds would normally have 0113 as their main dial code, but they might also want to appear to have a presence in Bradford 01274 and Wakefield 01924, and so on.

Juno can supply geographic phone numbers for all dial codes in the UK with the calls being diverted to your office number, a mobile number or even a telephone answering service. A true virtual phone number in that it is not associated with a physical phone line.

Non Geographic Numbers

Non geographic numbers are those with prefixes such as 03, 080, 0845, 0870, 083/4, 0871 numbers. These numbers are used to call businesses, charities and Government agencies, and are phone numbers that are not tied to a particular area of the country. They can go with you when you move offices, or can be pointed to different offices at different times. A non geographic number is a type of telephone number that is not linked to any specific physical location.

These numbers are a good alternative to the traditional landline phone numbers that are assigned geographically using a system of location specific dial codes.

Non geographic numbers are used for various reasons. One reason might be to provide create a national presence. The way in which Non-geographic numbers work is simple. The number is pointed or diverted to an existing telephone number, landline or mobile. This has no impact on the existing phone number or telephone services. All existing call handling and management features such as voicemail services, call diversion, and call pickup are not impacted when called via a non geographic number.

Personal numbers (07x)

UK telephone numbers beginning with 070 are known as ‘personal’ or sometimes ‘follow me’ services and are unique from the other 071-079 numbers used as UK mobile phone numbers.

Personal numbers allocated to an individual or business. They can use them to redirect incoming calls to any phone they wish, at different times of the day.

Caution is required as they are charged at premium rates and can be confused for UK mobile numbers, and therefore the cost of calls made to them may not be obvious to callers, resulting in bill shock when they receive their bills.

International numbers

We offer international telephone numbers for most countries around the world, which can be routed to a UK landline, IP number or mobile.  This enables businesses to extend their presence to countries they wish to appear to have operate in, and to answer incoming phone calls in the UK.

Juno’s International numbers are virtual and can be forwarded to any landline, mobile or VoIP phone, even in some scenarios to destinations outside the UK.

To comply with the regulatory requirements in some countries, you will need to provide us with specific information and documentation which relates to the international phone number you wish to instal. This is primarily to mitigate the possibility for fraud.

What out customers say:

  • During a periodic review of our operating costs we decided to look at the market for Telecoms. We were a BT customer and the customer service was poor. I wanted to move our office telecoms to a Derby company, with a real person whom we could talk to if things went wrong. We engaged Juno Telecoms and they provided us with a comprehensive detailed proposal that achieved cost savings, along with a new up to date telephony system. I know that when we need to add new lines or geographical numbers, it's just a phone call to George and it's sorted.
